I’ve had the pleasure of sharing exciting news all summer for Lightholder Books. This past month I’ve expanded my booth at the Newburgh Vintage Emporium Warehouse, signed on as a vendor at Hyde Park Antiques Center where I now have two cases of literature, and put down a deposit at the Red Owl Collective in Kingston, where I’ll put in a booth mid-September. I’m so excited to have more locations in the Hudson Valley where people can shop for the vintage and rare books I curate. All this expansion means that, for the first time, my inventory is a little thin, which I know is very much a temporary problem. I’ve taken about fifty books off the website, and will probably take off more to stock the booth in Kingston. This has led me to rethink what I want the online store to be. Since I have to stock all of these physical locations, I’m going to focus the online store on a few areas: short story collections, vintage and rare editions that are on the pricey side (or risk being stolen in a physical place), and vintage literature by women. I’m particularly interested in expanding my selection of women in translation. I still plan to list 10-15 new books every Tuesday. If you see a book in a booth or case on Instagram or TikTok that you’re interested in, or were eyeing a book that’s no longer on my site, shoot me an email and we’ll work something out.
I’ve had a very V. Sackville West summer, first acquiring a collection from an auction, then stumbling on a collection at a library sale, then finally buying a collection off ebay, even though I rarely source from there. I’ve listed some of these titles already, but there will be more in the coming weeks. Also coming up are a couple of rare Ezra Pounds, a Patricia Highsmith box set, and a signed Thomas Mann. Are you a Kay Boyle fan? Because she’ll be coming up a lot in the fall.
Thank you all for your support. Happy reading!
