Mothers and Shadows by Marta Traba. 1986 Readers International edition (c/r 1981), 178 pages. Traba, born in Buenos Aires, was an art critic, poet, and novelist, who studied mass media and criticized the military seizing the campus of National University of Colombia. Mothers and Shadows was her first work to appear in English, and tells the story of two women coming together in face of military horrors. Traba died in a plane crash 1983.
