How to Read; followed by The Spirit of Romance; Prolegomena 1 by Ezra Pound. 1932 TO publishers, Le Beausset, France, 159 pages. Pound was one of the major figures in the early modernist movement and his influence on poetry reverberates today. According to Donald Hall: "Ezra Pound is the poet who, a thousand times more than any other man, has made modern poetry possible in English." Shame about the fascism. Spirit of Romance was originally written in 1910 and is Pound's first work of literary criticism. Included here is the first portion of that text with How To Read, originally published in 1931, and explores publishing, language, and more. 

Condition: Fair. Original wraps, four inch tear on front along spine, damp stains, owner name on front cover, open tear on top of back cover, fragile, see photos. Retains infamous expat bookstore Shakespeare and Company Sylvia Beach sticker on last page.
