Malady of Death by Marguerite Duras

The Malady of Death by Marguerite Duras. 1986 Grove Press, first U.S. edition, 60 pages. Duras was a celebrated French novelist, playwright, and writer, well-known for her novel The Lover, a story of a teenager falling in love with an older Chinese man. In her New York Times obituary: "The mysteries of love and sex consumed her, but she had no room for sentimentality in her works, or indeed, in her life." Malady is a novella  about doomed relationship.
