Suzuki Beane by Sandra Scoppettone. Drawings by Louise Fitzhugh.1961 Doubleday, first edition, 96 pages. The bohemian answer to Eloise, complete with references to the Village, Kerouac, and suicide. Scoppettone has a long career as a young adult author and her book Happy Endings Are All Alike was one of the first to depict a lesbian relationship for young adults.

Condition: Good-/Good. Jacket is worn, with tanning, darkening, and chips, closed tear on spine, possible damp stains,  boards darkened, inscription on first page, text block spotted brown.
