The Book of Masks

The Book of Masks by Hwang Sun-won. 1989 Readers International first edition. Some foxing to jacket and pages, otherwise in very good condition. Hwang Sun-won is considered a master of the short-story form in Korea, and writes of the political tensions that brew underneath the surface in this debut in English.

"Muzzles glared ominously over the barricades thrown up in front of the presidential mansion. But the students, locked in columns resembling so many football formations, had nothing to fear."
