Earthly Paradise by Colette, drawn from the writings of her lifetime, by Robert Phelps. 1966  Farrar, Straus & Giroux, first printing, 505 pages. Jacket design by Milton Glaser. Colette was a prolific French author, former mime and actress, and "the only great woman writer in France" according to De Beauvoir. Jacket copy calls Earthly Paradise an "autobiography of her myth." Put together by Phelps out of more than forty of Colette's autobiographical writings.
