The Sweet Flypaper of Life by Roy DeCarava and Langston Hughes. 1969 Hill and Wang edition, third printing (c/r 1955), 96 pages. Hughes was a poet, novelist, and columnist and a central figure in the Harlem Renaissance.  DeCarava was an artist who took up photography after making prints for the WPA. The Sweet Flypaper of Life is an extended prose poem accompanied by photographs, "a pioneering exercise in merging image and text as well as a revealing glimpse into the everyday lives of Harlem’s black community." (Guardian).
